Makeup mogul Bobbi Brown

set to to take over Yahoo's beauty section

Yahoo have announced that Bobbi Brown will become
Editor in Chief of Yahoo Beauty later this month.

She will still continue in her role as
Chief Creative Officer of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.

The announcement of Bobbi's hiring came a week after reports that Yahoo was going to give their 'Shine' lifestyle section (which focuses on women) a massive overhaul.

In their statement, Yahoo said that Bobbi Brown will
"lead editorial direction, original content and the expansion and re-imagination” of the section".
In the same statement, Bobbi Brown said
“As [editor-in-chief], I’ll work to curate smart, strong content that will teach women how to be their best selves. Of course, it goes without saying that this new role will never take me away from my first love – Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. I’ll continue as Chief Creative Officer of the company, and am confident that the two positions will inform and strengthen each other.”

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

Bobbi founded and now leads Bobbi Brown cosmetics, which is owned by Estée Lauder. Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is thought to be responsible for over ten per cent of Estée Lauder's sales. Average annual sales at Lauder are estimated at $10.7 billion so Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is a BIG money spinner.
Not everyone is impressed by Yahoo's new signing. Kelly McBride, who is a senior faculty member at the Poynter Institute and who co-authored 'The New Ethics of Journalism' said
"The thing that's surprising about this is it creates an absolutely obvious conflict of interest. The reason that people would turn to Yahoo Beauty is for independent news and analysis on a specialty topic. If you have an editor who has a vested financial interest in a product line, news consumers are automatically going to assume that that product line gets preferential treatment. And so it doesn't even matter if it actually does get preferential treatment, the perception alone will damage Yahoo's credibility."
When asked to comment on this, Yahoo released this statement:
"Yahoo has very strict editorial guidelines and Yahoo Beauty will adhere to these standards just like all of our sites."

Yahoo Hiring Big Names...

Bobbi Brown is the latest big name hired by Yahoo. Last November the company hired television news personality Katie Couric, allegedly for a salary of $6 million!.
Yahoo also has hired former New York Times journalist David Pogue as a technology columnist.
We will watch developments at Shine and at Bobbi Brown Cosmetics with interest! Let's hope Bobbi hasn't bitten off more than she can chew!

New from

STUDIO SCULPT SHADE AND LINE

We're loving these new

3-in-1 palettes from MAC.

Each one has two eye shadows and one matte eyeliner.

Not only are the colors awesome (couldn't you just eat that Espresso Blend?) but they have a unique formula which gives them the amazing versatility of three textures - matte, sparkle and metallic.

If you use them wet, they glide on like a creamy liquid with deeply saturated color which makes them ideal for use as an eyeliner.

Or use them dry as a creamy shadow that blends perfectly.

Ebony Blend                             Violet Blend                                Eggplant Blend

Rose Blend                             Apricot Blend                                 Olive Blend

Espresso Blend                      Indigo Blend

You can buy them online right now and they go into stores on April 17th...form an orderly queue!

Big Changes for the Faces Of...

Bobbi Brown and L'Oreal Paris

Bobbi Brown have announced that they have replaced Katie Holmes with another Kate
- Kate Upton.

Out - Katie Holmes

In - Kate Upton, pictured with Bobbi Brown

The new Kate Upton ads will appear in July.

Kate was quoted as saying

"I am a huge product fan. I love trying new things. I get that from my mom and my sisters," she says. "We always share products. I've always used Bobbi Brown. That's the cool thing — I can do an interview and not have to lie."

New face for L'Oreal Paris

And L'Oreal Paris have just announced that Zoe Saldana will be their new international spokesmodel.

Zoe's going to be a busy girl. She's lined up to appear in a sequel to the movie "Avatar" and is due to play Rosemary in a new NBC adaptation of the classic horror film made so famous by Mia Farrow - Rosemary's Baby.

Zoe always looks stunning so we can't wait to see her L'Oreal Paris Ads!

Glossy Box Rocks!

We're probably a little late to this party but hey - better late than never, right?

We've just discovered the awesomeness that is Glossy Box.

You can check out their January / February magazine here - loving the cover!

The totally awesome Glossy Box Magazine
But what's got us really excited is the Glossy Box concept of having a box of beauty goodies delivered to your door once a month.

For a mere $21 per month, the lovely people at GB will send you a box of five luxury beauty items.

And these are great items, worth having - so from a financial point of view it's a good deal.

We just love the thought of a mystery box every month! It's fun and it's a way of trying things that you might not normally go for...

So here's a quick peek at February's box...
Glossy Box Box of The Month - February
You can see examples of February's products - we love them all! Reviewers have been very pleased with what they got!

And the box itself is so pretty and can be used for other storage.

Great idea, great products, great price. Glossy Box - we think we love you!

Everyone's talking about Dallas Buyers Club!

And so we should! The transformations of Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto were astonishing. We're going to remind you of how they looked before they lost a ton of weight for the movie, but before we do, take a look at this fabulous interview with makeup artist Robin Mathews - giving the full lowdown on how the Makeup was done...and on a total budget of $250. Yep, for the whole film. That's crazy.

What's even more crazy is that Robin and Adruitha Lee won the Oscar for
Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

They've set the bar rather high for the rest of the industry now. If they can win an Oscar on a £250 budget, will this make life harder for future MUA's if their budgets are cut as a result? Time will tell. We feel like Dallas Buyers Club was a one-off...a collision of amazingly talented people who all worked toward the same end - a truly great, Oscar winning film.

Robin Mathews, Adruitha Lee, Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto should all be very proud of what they achieved. As promised, here are before and after pics of both of them...

Remember Matthew McConaughey in Magic Mike? (If you missed it,
you have some very fun Googling to do!)

...and forty pounds lighter for Dallas Buyers Club. Wow.

And now the beautiful Jared Leto...how can one human have so many great genes?
*Focus* Sorry, got sidetracked there...
Here is Jared as Rayon in DBC. This picture is amazing. He manages to make her look so fragile, vulnerable and beautiful all at the same time. Truly an Oscar winning performance.

And here is Jared with his Oscar. Congratulations !!!!!
